What is Elementary Music at Heatly?
Students at Heatly have music once a week for 45 minutes in grades K-6.
In grades K-6, music classes for a music literacy program developed by Dr. John Feierabend. Kindergarten follows "First Steps in Music". Grades 1-6 follow "Conversational Solfege". By the end of 6th grade all students are able to read, write, and perform music independently as well as in ensembles.
During Music class, students also prepare for many school and community performances, as well as explore a variety of other topics including:
Students in Grades 3-6 are invited to stay after twice a week for Chorus.

- The History of Our National Anthem (Grades 3-6)
- Patriotic Songs and History (All Grades)
- Recorder Karate (Grades 3-6 Only)
- Choral Techniques (All Grades)
Students in Grades 3-6 are invited to stay after twice a week for Chorus.
